Adaptation supported!

A quick note: Last year, I posted that fatness is an adaptation, not a disease. An adaptation has pluses and minuses, while a disease doesn’t have any pluses (except for getting you out of work, perhaps). Well, whatayaknow? I missed an article that also came out last year that explored that very concept: http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/j.1467-789X.2012.00992.x/full

Sadly, while referencing Bacon and Aphramor’s paper arguing for a paradigm shift, the article seems to place fatness back into the old paradigm of something to be avoided at all costs. The logic seems to be: “Fatness is a problem. But the evidence shows that fatness isn’t always a bad thing. But since fatness MUST be bad, these fat benefits are trying to lull us into complacency. We must fight fat more fiercely than ever!”

Yeesh.
