March 17, 2106: After a classmate created a Twitter account called “Dee is a Fat Whale”, Texan teen Dannie “Dee” McMillan, with encouragement from plus-size model Laura Lee, started raising money for the Save the Whales Foundation with a GoFundMe account and a shirt saying, “Dee the Fat Whale Saves the Whales”.
March 18, 2016: After adjusting for known risk factors such as BMI and family history of diabetes, researchers find a higher prevalence of diabetes in low-income countries, suggesting that other factors are in play.
